1. Call for Articles: new Ethnicity Studies issue on integration processes of ethnic minorities and new immigrants

Ethnicity Studies publishes articles on ethnic processes in contemporary societies, emphasizing social science approaches (sociology, anthropology, political science, economics, historical and cultural studies) to the study of ethnicity.

The upcoming issue of Ethnicity studies will explore social developments and peculiarities of integration processes of ethnic minorities and new immigrants in Lithuania after 2004, i.e. after Lithuania’s accession to the EU.

We welcome all submissions relating to social, legal situation of ethnic minorities and new immigrants in Lithuania after 2004. Particular interest is on research that deals with:

•  participation of ethnic minorities and new immigrants in the labour market,
• access to education system and social services,
• patterns of the formation of social networks.
• Articles examining similar questions in other countries, exploring importance of social, cultural, legal, economic context for the social situation of ethnic minorities and new immigrant groups are welcomed.

DEADLINES:

April 15, 2012 deadline to  send an abstract (up till 500 words).

May 31, 2012 deadline for the selected authors to submit full text for reviewing process.

2. Call for Articles: new Ethnicity Studies issue on Lithuanian Polish minority

Ethnicity Studies publishes articles on ethnic processes in contemporary societies, emphasizing social science approaches (sociology, anthropology, political science, economics, historical and cultural studies) to the study of ethnicity.

Ethnicity Studies invites contributions from social science researchers to the new issue on Polish ethnic group in Lithuania. Papers should address the following interconnected themes:

•  ethnic and civic identity of Polish in Lithuania: importance of collective memory, territory, language, religion, political changes and other factors for construction of contemporary ethnic identity.
• analysis of ethnic policy in Lithuania, changes in policy of education and culture.
• image of Lithuanian Polish group in mass media: analysis of Polish and Lithuanian media, analysis of political discourse and context.

The list of themes is not final, other suggestions are welcomed.  The articles will be selected based on anonymous reviews of two reviewers, appointed by the editorial board.
